Christoph is a recognized pioneer in optical connectivity with over 30 years of experience shaping the photonics industry. Christoph launched the laser diode program at IBM Zurich, co-founding the IBM Laser Diode Enterprise (now part of Coherent). His innovations, including the first 980 nm high-power pump laser, have powered global telecom networks, enabling more than half of today’s internet links. With over 150 publications, 20 patents, and leadership roles at IBM, JDS Uniphase, Nortel, and Bookham, Christoph brings unmatched expertise in technology, reliability, and industrialization.

At Polariton, we are advancing high-speed silicon photonics and plasmonic modulators to overcome bandwidth bottlenecks in next-generation data centers. Christoph’s deep industry expertise and strategic guidance will be invaluable industrializing our technology.
