C Band

The C band (1530–1565 nm) is the industry standard for long-distance fiber-optic communication, primarily due to its low signal attenuation, which allows optical signals to travel vast distances with minimal loss. This makes it an essential wavelength range for high-capacity networks, enabling efficient data transmission over hundreds or even thousands of kilometers. A key advantage of  C band products are its compatibility with erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs), which boost signal strength without the need for costly electronic regeneration, further enhancing network efficiency.

With its optimal transmission properties, C band products are widely used in long-haul and ultra-long-haul optical networks, including undersea fiber-optic cables, intercontinental communication links, and metropolitan area networks (MANs). It also plays a crucial role in dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) systems, where multiple data channels are transmitted simultaneously, maximizing network capacity and efficiency.

Polariton’s electro-optic modulators and photonic integrated circuits (PICs) are engineered to operate seamlessly within the C band, ensuring exceptional performance, reliability, and scalability for demanding optical communication systems. Whether for data centers, telecom infrastructure, or research applications, our products provide the high bandwidth, low power consumption, and superior signal integrity required for next-generation networks.
