From 1999 to 2004 he was affiliated with Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, Holmdel, NJ, USA.

Helena Echeverri

Helena joins Polariton as Marketing Manager in 2021. Born in Medellin, Colombia, she has a degree in social communication and a specialization in digital marketing. She has been working in this field for the last seven years. Her multicultural point of view and experience add to our team diversity. Her hobbies are crochet, city touring and chess.

Marcel Destraz

Marcel Destraz received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from ETH Zurich, Switzerland in 2018. During his Masters, he heavily focused on optical communication and already supported Polariton during a semester and the master thesis.
For several years during his study, he worked as a recruiter for one of Switzerland’s most prestigious headhunters. During this time, he also was project leader for an annually published study of the composition of the top management of Switzerland’s 100 largest companies. He collected further work experience at a large energy company and in various positions in the event industry.
Marcel joined Polariton in April 2021 as an Application Engineer determining and developing the next generation of high-speed electro-optic plasmonic modulators in close contact with our customers.
In his spare time, Marcel is an avid jogger, loves to play tennis or go for a hike. In every sphere of life, he enjoys discovering and experiencing new things.

Nicholas Güsken

Nicholas received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Physics from RWTH Aachen University, Germany in 2013 and 2016. Additionally, he received a M.Sc. degree in Nanotechnology from the University Sorbonne – Paris VI, France in 2014 and a M.Sc. degree in Management, Business and Economics from RWTH Aachen University, Germany in 2016.
Nicholas completed his Ph.D. in Physics with focus on Nanophotonics, Plasmonics and Opto-electronics at Imperial College London in January 2020 for which he was awarded the Imperial Solid State Thesis Prize 2020. This was followed by a research associate position in the same group (Prof. Dr. Maier and Prof. Dr. Oulton) until joining Polariton Technologies in November 2020.
At Polariton, Nicholas is involved in the R&D chip-development and bringing a viable product to the market.

Nino del Medico

Nino joined Polariton after receiving his Master of Science from the department of mechanical and process engineering at ETH Zurich. During his studies, he primarily focused on thermodynamic and optical material properties in micro-and nanotechnology.
Nino likes to engage in all sorts of outside activities such as hiking, cycling and various other sports while at the same time looking for and valuing social and cultural encounters.

Patrick Habegger

Patrick joined Polariton Technologies after receiving his Master of Science from the department of information technology and electrical engineering of ETH Zürich, with the main focus on photonics and electronics.
Outside of office, Patrick likes to stay active practicing different sports such as mountain biking, cross-country skiing or working as a kick-boxing instructor.

Eva De Leo

Eva joined Polariton Technologies after receiving her PhD from the Optical Materials Engineering Laboratory of ETH Zurich where she developed new plasmonic and photonic nanostructures for use in sensing, spectroscopy, integrated light sources and thermal emitters.
She received her Master of Science in Micro and Nanotechnologies for Integrated Systems as a joint degree from the Politecnico di Torino, INP Grenoble and EPFL.
At Polariton Technologies she designs and investigates nanoscale processes and materials to develop high-performance integrated optical devices

Wolfgang Heni

Wolfgang is co-founder and CTO of Polariton Technologies. Before founding Polariton, he worked as a research assistant at ETH Zurich, where he received his PhD in January 2019. During his PhD in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, he developed high-speed plasmonics electro-optic modulators at the Institute of Electromagnetic Fields, ETH Zurich. He received his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology with distinction (“mit Auszeichnung”) from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
Wolfgang has been developing nanotechnology-based solutions for optical communication for more than 6 years, strongly focusing on application-driven R&D. In 2018 he was awarded the BRIDGE Proof-of-Concept fellowship by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Swiss Innovation Agency Innosuisse.
At Polariton Technologies Wolfgang leads chip-level research and product development to bring the first plasmonic electro-optic modulator to the market.

Benedikt Bäuerle

Benedikt co-founded Polariton Technologies while finishing his PhD at ETH Zurich in the research group of Juerg Leuthold. He worked on optical communication systems, digital signal processing, and the system integration of plasmonics modulators. Previously, he received his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
Benedikt brings more than 10 years of experience in optical communications systems to Polariton. He enjoys outdoor activities, beekeeping, hiking, mountaineering, and many more…
